What Rhinos To Wear: Spring Racing

As Spring Racing season approaches it's time to punt for the best horse and outfit. The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival is a horse racing event running its course across four major day events, celebrated with a few trackside beers and this seasons fashion trends. Each year everyone questions what to wear to the races, as it can be difficult to find a perfectly tailored suit that fits the right race day. However your odds of finding the perfect shoe are high. There are a few ways you can go from here from a loafer, lace-up or even dress boot. We've selected our favourites that you can wear to each race day to back a winner.

Derby Day - 'Power'

Derby Day is one of the most prestigious days of the carnival where all participants dress strictly in black and white. Power is a leather lace-up made with a chiseled toe and fully flexible outsole that can be worn all day and night. This dress shoe is a great way to style up any look, making you look sleek and sophisticated. We'd go with a classic black and white suit and add our Formal Reversible Belt.

TIP #1: To keep your leather shoes looking brand new, use our Shoe Care Instant Shine to buff them out repelling any dust or water which will keep them looking shiny.

Oaks Day - 'Dune'

Time to take up your race day outfit up a notch on Oaks Day with Dune. Oaks Day is traditionally known as Ladies Day, but is one of the best days of the year for men to dress up and explore different designs and prints of fashion. Dune is a oxford lace-up dress shoe made with intricate seam detailing on the side panels and toe cap. We'd match them with a tailored navy suit and our Dress Belt to make statement on and off the track.

TIP #2: Embrace the colour! The Spring Racing carnival is all about experimenting with different colours, textures and designs. Our Roy The Rhino Socks are a great way to add a subtle flare to a simple suit.

Melbourne Cup Day - 'Borough'

They don't call it the race that stops the nation for nothing. Melbourne Cup Day attracts upwards of 80,000 punters through their gates each year, so it's important to dress to impress. A loafer is a great choice to wear as apart of your race day outfit as they're lightweight and comfortable. This is ideal when you're standing all day when trying to back a winner. Borough is made with our premium Portuguese leather and features a saddle overlay. Pair this style with classic grey suit and you'll be taking home a trifecta.

TIP #3: To prevent your loafer rubbing, add a small amount of lotion or conditioner to the inside of the shoe to reduce any friction and ward off any upcoming blisters.

Stakes Day - 'Chambers'

Stakes Day is the final day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, so it's time to go all in! Stakes Day is a known for family day, therefore there is no specific dress code and tends to be more of a casual day. A classic lace-up boot is a perfect men's races outfit option that fits both the dressy and casual occasions. Chambers is a one of our best-selling lace-up boots made with our contrast materials and colours. This shoe easily compliments a pair of navy chinos and a white buttoned down shirt for a smart-casual look, to end off the carnival on a high.

TIP #4: Timeless over trends! Invest in a high-quality leather pair of shoes which you can dress up or down that will last a lifetime.
